A psychiatrist becomes obsessed with one of her young clients with multiple personalities. Psychiatrist Elizabeth Derby murders her young patient, setting off a spiral of violent murders and paranormal phenomena, all apparently related to an ancient curse. Derby, turned into a black sheep among her own kind, is the only one who can stop the killings. This film began as a project by Stuart Gordon, which he developed over several years with screenwriter Dennis Paoli, and which Joe Lynch has completed following the death of the director of Re-Animator.
